By Jay Dean, Co-Owner of GO TRVL, sharing our family experience with my wife Melissa
Sailed: 17–21 September 2026 | Disney Adventure, Singapore
We've been incredibly fortunate to experience some extraordinary family holidays over the years. From overwater villas in the Maldives to luxury island resorts in Fiji, we've always loved discovering places where exceptional service and beautiful experiences meet.
But travelling with children has taught us something important.
True luxury isn't just about beautiful rooms, fancy restaurants or five-star facilities. It's about being able to completely relax, knowing that someone else has thought of all the little details.
And that's exactly what we discovered aboard Disney Adventure.
After four nights sailing Concierge with our children, Aria and Tommy, my wife Mel said something that perfectly summed up our experience:
"This was one of the best holidays we've ever had."
And here's the thing. This wasn't our first Disney cruise. It was our third.
We already knew Disney did family holidays exceptionally well. What we hadn't fully appreciated was just how much the Concierge experience could elevate an already magical holiday.
So, is Disney Adventure Concierge worth the upgrade?
Here's our personal experience, from one travelling family to another.
First Impressions: When 5,500 Passengers Suddenly Don't Feel Like 5,500
Let's be honest. Boarding an enormous cruise ship with thousands of other passengers and two excited children isn't necessarily anyone's idea of a relaxing start to a luxury holiday.
But from the moment we arrived at the terminal in Singapore, we knew Concierge was going to be different.
Instead of navigating the usual security queues, we were directed straight into a dedicated Concierge security line.
Everything felt effortless.
We were then welcomed into a private waiting lounge, offered refreshments and personally introduced to the Concierge Manager, who walked us through what to expect over the next four nights.
By 11 am, we were already boarding the ship, ahead of most other guests.
It might sound like a small detail, but when you're travelling as a family, avoiding queues and getting an early start makes an enormous difference.
We even managed to enjoy our exclusive Concierge welcome lunch before heading straight to the ship's famous Ironcycle Test Run attraction, with barely any wait.
While thousands of other guests were still finding their way aboard, we were already enjoying our holiday.
Our first lesson in Disney Concierge? The greatest luxury is often time.
Our Two-Bedroom Concierge Suite: Finally, Room for Everyone
If you've ever shared a standard hotel room with children, you'll appreciate just how valuable a little extra space can be.
We booked a beautiful Two-Bedroom Concierge Oceanview Suite with Verandah, and it was absolutely perfect for our family.
Walking inside felt more like entering a luxury hotel suite than a cruise cabin.
There was a spacious lounge with a convertible double sofa bed, a gorgeous king bedroom for us, and a completely separate bedroom and bathroom for a friend travelling with us.
Aria and Tommy loved sleeping together in the lounge, close enough to us to feel comfortable, but with plenty of room to spread out.
There were televisions throughout, beautifully appointed bathrooms, upgraded amenities and an enormous private verandah.
As parents, the balcony was something we were initially cautious about. However, the secure door locks provided welcome peace of mind, as the children couldn't open them independently.
The entire suite felt thoughtfully designed for families who want to enjoy time together without feeling on top of one another.
And after a busy day exploring the ship, having somewhere beautiful and spacious to retreat to was wonderful.
The Concierge Lounge: Our Own Little Slice of Agrabah
Now, this is where things got really special.
The exclusive Concierge Lounge aboard Disney Adventure was unlike anything we'd experienced on our previous cruises.
It was enormous, beautifully designed and inspired by Disney's Aladdin.
I genuinely felt like I'd stepped into the palace of Agrabah.
I was ready to declare myself Prince Ali, while Mel was certainly enjoying her Princess Jasmine moment!
But beyond the beautiful surroundings, it was the service that really impressed us.
The staff were warm, attentive and genuinely interested in making our experience memorable.
And the food? Incredible.
Throughout the day, we could pop in for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea or evening canapés.
Everything we tried was beautifully prepared.
One afternoon, they served California roll sushi that was genuinely some of the best I've ever tasted.
Let's just say we returned for multiple plates.
Every evening, between 5 pm and 10 pm during our sailing, the lounge also offered a generous selection of drinks, including cocktails, spirits, beer, wine and plenty of non-alcoholic options.
There was something rather wonderful about enjoying a freshly made cocktail while the kids happily tucked into cookies and milk.
Mel particularly loved being able to explore the cocktail menu and wine selection without having to rush off somewhere or worry about what the children were doing.
But the best part wasn't the food or drinks.
It was having somewhere peaceful to escape the excitement of a ship carrying thousands of guests.
Somewhere the kids felt comfortable, where we could unwind, and where everyone was genuinely looked after.
For us, that was priceless.
The Little Kids' Club That Made a Huge Difference
One of the biggest surprises was discovering that the Concierge Lounge had its own dedicated children's activity area.
Think Disney movies, arts and crafts, friendly staff and a lovely, quieter environment for children to relax.
Aria and Tommy absolutely loved it.
And as parents, we loved having somewhere they could enjoy themselves while we were nearby, relaxing with a coffee or a drink.
But one particular experience captured everything we loved about the Concierge service.
The kids had forgotten to bring their Disney autograph books.
Anyone with Disney-loving children will understand how important those little books can be!
Rather than letting them miss out, a wonderful South African staff member named Sarah sat down with Aria and Tommy and helped them create their very own autograph books.
Using colourful paper, staples and plenty of creativity, they made personalised little books together.
The kids were over the moon.
And when Mickey, Pluto and the other Disney characters began signing those handmade books, the experience became even more special.
It wasn't an expensive gift or an elaborate grand gesture.
It was simply someone taking the time to make our children feel special.
And of everything we experienced aboard Disney Adventure, that small act of kindness is one of the things we'll remember most.
That's what exceptional hospitality means to us.
Meeting Characters Without the Mayhem
Character meet-and-greets are one of the most exciting parts of any Disney holiday.
But when you're sharing a ship with thousands of guests, queues can sometimes take away from the magic.
One of our favourite Concierge benefits was access to exclusive character encounters inside the lounge.
Instead of long waits in the ship's public areas, we enjoyed wonderfully intimate meet-and-greets, sometimes with only around 20 other guests waiting.
The characters took their time interacting with the children, signing autographs, shaking hands and making everyone feel special.
We even got to meet Captain Mickey!
Although I did wonder who was steering the ship while the captain was busy entertaining us.
For Aria and Tommy, these encounters were magical.
For us, the ability to enjoy them without spending ages waiting in line made them even better.
Shaded Pools, Cabanas and a Little Luxury for Mum and Dad
With so much to see and do aboard Disney Adventure, we honestly didn't expect to spend quite so much time in the exclusive Concierge outdoor areas.
But we absolutely loved them.
The private pool area offered a welcome escape from the busier public decks, and the shaded pool was fantastic in Singapore's tropical heat.
There were beautiful spaces to relax, comfortable cabanas and an all-day food menu that made grabbing snacks for the kids incredibly easy.
It felt like having a private resort experience on top of a Disney cruise ship.
And while the children enjoyed the ship's kids' clubs, I discovered another wonderful benefit: access to the dedicated Concierge wellness facilities.
During our sailing, I enjoyed the plunge pools, warm baths, sauna and steam room.
Having the opportunity to unwind in a peaceful wellness environment while the children were happily entertained was such a treat.
Because let's face it, family holidays should be enjoyable for Mum and Dad too.
And that's something Concierge delivered beautifully.
Disney Dining: Where the Waiters Actually Remember Your Kids
One of the things we've always loved about Disney Cruise Line is how brilliantly they cater for families.
And Disney Adventure took that to another level.
Disney's rotational dining concept means you experience different restaurants throughout your cruise, while your dedicated waitstaff follow you from venue to venue.
It sounds simple, but it's incredibly clever.
By the second evening, the team already understood what our children liked.
They knew when chicken nuggets and chips were going to be the winning choice, and they understood that ice cream was always likely to be requested afterwards!
As parents of children who can be quite particular about their food, this made dining so much more enjoyable.
Meanwhile, we could relax and enjoy beautiful meals, wonderful service and the incredible Disney entertainment happening around us.
During our sailing, we also enjoyed fantastic table locations, often right near the action, which made the dining experiences feel even more special.
The kids loved being so close to the performances.
And we loved not having to think about any of the arrangements.
It was family dining made effortless.
Exclusive Access: The Shows Were Even Better With Concierge
Disney knows how to put on a show.
The productions aboard Disney Adventure were spectacular, with incredible costumes, music, effects and those special Disney moments that make both children and adults smile.
But our Concierge benefits made the experience even better.
Rather than joining the main queues, we enjoyed a dedicated waiting area, complimentary popcorn and priority access to the theatre.
We were escorted inside ahead of other guests and could select fantastic seats.
We quickly learned exactly where to sit so the kids could experience the bubbles falling from above and the characters passing by for high-fives.
Seeing Aria and Tommy's faces light up during those moments was unforgettable.
And the best part?
We didn't have to spend half an hour worrying about finding seats.
We could simply arrive, relax and enjoy the show.
Plus, plenty of complimentary popcorn for the family?
That's a win in our books!
Beyond Concierge: Disney Adventure Is an Incredible Ship
While Concierge transformed our holiday, we'd be doing Disney Adventure an injustice if we didn't talk about the ship itself.
One of our favourite discoveries was San Fransokyo Street, inspired by Disney's Big Hero 6.
Walking through the Japanese-inspired streetscape, surrounded by colourful details, noodle shops and Baymax references, felt like stepping into another world.
Having travelled through Japan as a family, we absolutely loved it.
And the air-conditioning was a welcome escape from Singapore's tropical heat!
Mel has always loved a good arcade, so this area was right up her alley.
Our favourite activity was the interactive floor games, where illuminated squares challenged us to jump, move and stamp our feet in the right places.
We spent ages laughing, competing and playing together.
Some of our favourite family memories from the entire cruise came from those simple moments.
And that's what Disney Adventure does so well.
It doesn't just entertain the children. It gives parents the opportunity to become kids again, too.
From exploring the beautifully themed areas to riding Ironcycle Test Run, there was always something new to discover.
Concierge simply meant we could enjoy all that excitement and then retreat somewhere peaceful whenever we wanted.

Our Honest Disney Adventure Review: A Family Experience
Mel's Perspective: Finally, a Disney Holiday Where I Could Completely Unwind
If there's one person in our family who loves Disney more than anyone, it's Mel.
Having experienced Disney cruises before, she already knew how magical they could be.
But she also knew how exhausting the queues, crowds and rushing between activities could sometimes become.
On previous cruises, we'd occasionally found ourselves worrying about getting to shows early enough, securing good seats or missing out on experiences.
This time was completely different.
For Mel, Concierge meant being able to enjoy everything she loved about Disney without so much of the usual stress.
We could experience the shows, meet characters, explore the ship and spend quality time with Aria and Tommy without feeling like we were constantly racing against the clock.
And yes, Mel was pretty determined to give the cocktail menu and wine selection a thorough review before we disembarked!
But what she appreciated most was how effortless everything felt.
For once, we weren't constantly thinking about where we needed to be next.
We could simply enjoy the magic together.
When Mel told me this was one of the best holidays we'd ever had, I knew exactly what she meant.
The kids had an incredible time.
And we did too.
So, Would We Pay for Disney Adventure Concierge Again?
Absolutely.
And that's coming from two people who have experienced Disney cruising before and genuinely understand the difference between a nice holiday and an exceptional one.
Let's be clear: Concierge is a significant investment.
It's not something every family needs, and Disney Cruise Line already offers a fantastic experience in its standard accommodation.
But for families who appreciate luxury, personalised service, beautiful surroundings and the freedom to enjoy their holiday without constantly organising everything, we believe Concierge offers something very special.
It wasn't just about the larger suite, the private lounge, the premium food or the drinks.
It was about the hundreds of little things that added up.
The time saved boarding. The helpful advice from staff about where to watch fireworks. The exclusive character encounters. The peaceful spaces. The fantastic seats for shows. The thoughtful dining service.
And of course, Sarah sitting down with our children to make those little autograph books.
We didn't feel like we were simply staying in a more expensive cabin. We felt genuinely looked after.
For a few days, we could stop being the people responsible for planning every detail and simply enjoy being Mum and Dad.
And perhaps that's why this cruise felt so special.
It gave us the opportunity to be completely present with our children, making memories together.
After three Disney cruises, we can confidently say this was our favourite.
And Concierge was a huge part of why.
